What does the Bible say about Christian education?

Why provide a Christian education for our children? There are many good reasons, but none greater than those given to us by God in His Word. This post will provide some verses to shine light on why Christian education is monumentally important for our children. The Bible is explicit that parents are responsible for their children’s education.
Remember, the wisdom of the world is foolishness to God, and the wisdom of God is foolishness to the world.
Consider Dueteronomy 6:4-9
“Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one! You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.
And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.
You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
Consider Matthew 22:37-40:
Jesus said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.” This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
Consider Colossians 2:8:
Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the traditions of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.
Consider II Corinthians 10:4-5:
For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.
Consider Matthew 28:18-20
And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and earth. Go therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit; teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Consider Psalm 8:2
Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have ordained strength, because of your enemies, that You may silence the enemy and the avenger.
Consider Matthew 5: 13-14
You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has lost its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.
Consider Mark 9:50
Salt is good, but if the salt loses its flavor, how will you season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace with one another.
